Yadah_Host says, Thank you all for joining us tonight for our Chat. I’d like to introduce my helpers this evening. On tonight we have Yadah_Host, daisyhost, gehost, and angelmuffin. Our guests tonight have been traveling through America in a cramped RV.
Yadah_Host says, Their mom is a famous TV actress who weekly portrayed a snobbish rich girl called Blair. Join us now for our chat with Tucker, Haven, and Clancy along with their homeschooling mother and fellow RV adventurer, Lisa Whelchel.
WhelchelFamily waves at everyone.
soccermjr asks, What has been the most difficult & challenging part of your dream tour?
WhelchelFamily says, {Lisa} For each of us overall it’s been missing family and friends. Individually Steve misses high speed internet access, I miss scrap booking, Tucker missing getting to play his electric guitar, Haven misses having her own room, and Clancy misses the backyard.
my3sons_243 asks, Lisa, I loved your books. I appreciate how you are so real and show us the true you in the books. How difficult has it been at times being on top of one another in the beautiful motor home these past months? I can only imagine close quarters with my 3 boys! LOL
WhelchelFamily says, {Lisa} first of all, I think having 3 boys is much harder than having 3 kids and one of them being a boy. But I would have to say that, surprisingly, I don’t think it has been any tougher being so close than it is at home. The sibling conflict issues are there either way. In some ways it is even easier being together all the time because you have to be each other’s best friends.
guest2303 asks, Clancy, I am the youngest of 4 daughters. How do you get along with your older siblings?
WhelchelFamily says, {Haven} she just does whatever we want.
WhelchelFamily says, {Clancy} I just do whatever they want.
WhelchelFamily shrugs helplessly.
gtrcat asks, To Tucker: How is your guitar playing coming along? Have an electric yet? (P.S. ROCK ON, LITTLE DUDE!!!!)
WhelchelFamily says, {Tucker} I have an electric guitar that my uncle Casey gave me, which I left at home. I got a mini acoustic guitar for Christmas. But mom smashed it when she opened the slide out in the RV. Now I have a 3/4 blue acoustic guitar. But I’m saving up for a new electric guitar of my own when I get home. Mom says I have to take lessons first.
madchatter asks, From Rachel(age11): What is it like to see your mom on T.V.?
WhelchelFamily says, {Haven} She has really big hair on T.V. It was the first time that I actually thought my mom was my age once.
guest2288 asks, Lisa, a few times in some pictures Haven’s hair would be in like braided pigtails. Starting at the top and kind of going right down. Do you do Haven’s braids or does she do them herself? I can’t do that with my hair by my self.
WhelchelFamily says, {Lisa} I do Haven’s braids. We call them Briggitta braids because she was in a homeschool play of the Sound of Music. She played the character of Briggitta so we did her hair that way. As an aside I played the part of Briggitta when I was in the Sound of Music at the age of 12.
guest2288 asks, Hey Tucker do you come online a lot? if so have you ever given your screen name to friends that you make throughout your journey?
WhelchelFamily says, {Tucker} It’s to hard to get connected to the internet while we are on the road and do chats or anything.
guest2288 asks, Clancy at the beginning of your trip I seem to remember you wearing a sunflower hat all the time. what ever happened to that? I mean how come you don’t wear it anymore? It is an adorable hat.
WhelchelFamily says, {Clancy} Its stuck in the corner of my drawer and I never get back that far.
soccermjr asks, with so much of the country already visited, is there any place you would consider moving to ?
WhelchelFamily says, {Lisa} There are lots of different places that I’d consider moving to. But I would really rather not move away from my mother.
gtrcat asks, Question for Tucker: I know you’re a big D.C.Talk fan. Any other groups you like, such as P.O.D.?
WhelchelFamily says, {Tucker} I’m sitting here wearing my Toby Mac T-shirt right now. I like Supertones and John Reuben. I also like Newsboys, Audio adrenaline, and Sonicflood.
Yadah_Host says, Thanks Lisa, Tucker, Haven and Clancy! We’re going to take a break for some chatmaster announcements!

chatmaster shouts, Lisa Whelchel and her family have been traveling across America in an RV. Read some of their experiences in Lisa’s journal. Just goto http://www.Lisawhelchel.com/coffee.html

WhelchelFamily smiles.
guest2288 asks, Hey Lisa. I noticed on your tour schedule that there is a closed event that you are going to in New York City. Why is this a closed event and what is going on there the day you are there?
WhelchelFamily says, {Lisa} It’s a bookseller’s convention.
gtrcat asks, To Haven: What will be your first act as president? (P.S. How’s Mr. Tinkles?? lol)
WhelchelFamily says, {Haven} No homework.
WhelchelFamily smiles.
christlike777 asks, does anybody still call you Blair
WhelchelFamily says, {Lisa} Yea!
guest2288 asks, This is for all three of you kids. Are all of you happy with being home schooled by your mom? Do your friends ever say they wish they were home schooled?
WhelchelFamily says, {All} YES!!!!
rilery asks, hello Cauble family! What part of the country are you in today?
WhelchelFamily says, {Lisa} We are in Charlotte, N.C. Visiting Grandma and Grandpa.
guest2301 asks, Hello, Kids! How long it took you to finish your schoolwork assignments? 2 or more hours?
WhelchelFamily says, {Lisa} About an hour to two hours. Longer on drive days because everyday they do math. When we have more time they do Language Arts. On long drive days they do a lot of writing assignments. Haven just started Alpha Omega online academy so hers is a little longer right now.
bobby_c asks, Evening Lisa, Tucker, Haven, and Clancy. What has been the most inspiring part of this tour, and how has God used all of you on this trip?
WhelchelFamily says, {Tucker} (Taking on a dignified voice.) I’ve been inspired by many things. Most of which … Shotguns and guitars.
WhelchelFamily says, {Haven} I’m not feeling very inspired right now.
WhelchelFamily says, {Clancy} I was most inspired by Oregon and Yellowstone.
applebetty asks, what has been the most coolest thing u have done on your tour?
WhelchelFamily says, {Haven} Disney World!
rilery asks, Are you worried about re-adjusting to life back at home when this amazing trip is completed?
WhelchelFamily says, {Clancy} No way!
WhelchelFamily says, {Lisa} Steve is going to have the hardest time adjusting back to real life. He really loves being on the road.
guest2334 asks, Tucker what can I tell my son to help him get along with his 3 sisters?
WhelchelFamily says, {Tucker} How would I know?!? Uhh… Beat them into submission? No no no… Threaten to body slam them on the trampoline
guest2328 asks, Lisa, how have you handled allowing all three of your children to express their individual interests in such close quarters?
WhelchelFamily says, {Lisa} Tucker has been the most difficult with the guitar. I should just be thankful it is not the drums. Haven took up calligraphy that was a bit easier. Clancy likes to draw and right letters so that is easy too.
gtrcat asks, To Clancy: I think I have trouble mixing you and your sister up. (still!!) Which one are you?
WhelchelFamily says, {Clancy} I’m the smallest one. The one that serves the two older ones.
WhelchelFamily says, {Haven} She’s the dumb blonde.
WhelchelFamily snickers.
gtrcat asks, To Tucker: Now that I see you got your electric, what song(s) can you play?
WhelchelFamily says, {Tucker} Amazing Grace, Spy man, 007, Star Wars and some blues song.
guest2370 asks, how old is everyone now?
WhelchelFamily says, {Lisa} Tucker is 12. Haven is 10 and Clancy is 9.
Yadah_Host says, Let’s check in with chatmaster right now!

chatmaster shouts, Today’s New International Version… Is a new translation of the Bible necessary? Is it right? Join us for our TNIV Chat with Rev. Tim Bayly on Thursday, March 14 at 9 p.m. ET. http://chat.crosswalk.com/events

chatmaster shouts, Order your own copy of Lisa Whelchel’s book, “Facts of Life and Other Facts My Father Taught Me.”

guest2328 asks, Tucker, Haven, and Clancy what activities do you participate in when you get home?
WhelchelFamily says, {Tucker} I’m looking forward to racing my BMX bike.
WhelchelFamily says, {Haven} I’m looking forward to enjoying the peace and quiet all by myself in my room and playing the computer.
WhelchelFamily says, {Clancy} I ‘m looking forward to getting back to my gymnastic classes.
guest2334 asks, Hi Cauble family, thank you for sharing so much of your life with us. I want to know if Steve disciplines the kids as much as you, Lisa?
WhelchelFamily says, {Lisa} No, not even close. As they are getting older, especially Tucker, we are having to balance the load more. Since he is with us now it is easier.
guest2334 asks, Lisa, do you ever just not know what to do with your kids on some days?
WhelchelFamily says, {Lisa} Only about 3 times a week.
rilery asks, How much longer will you all be on the road?
WhelchelFamily says, {Lisa} About 3 and a half more months. We’ll get home July 1st.
guest2345 asks, How are the kids getting along with each other on the trip?
WhelchelFamily says, {Lisa} About as well as they do at home which is pretty typical of 3 kids 3 years in a row. Use your imagination and add sound effects.

WhelchelFamily says, {Clancy} I’m reading the Little House on the Prairie series.
WhelchelFamily says, {Lisa} I enjoy books by Randy Alcorn and I just finished the first book of the Mitford series. The kids want to add that they also like books by Dave Pikley. Specifically the Adventures of Cats and Underpants and Super Diaper Baby.
WhelchelFamily says, {Tucker} I want to make it clear that I do NOT enjoy those. I am too old for them.
WhelchelFamily glares at mom.
guest2409 asks, How does Haven like the online academy?
WhelchelFamily says, {Haven} The quizzes are more difficult than I expected. The work is easier than I expected though.
guest2387 asks, Lisa, are you going to continue your journal entries when you return home?
WhelchelFamily says, {Lisa} Yes, but probably not daily. More like weekly. I’ll be doing more video streaming so I’ll answer questions in front of a camera and you can download the answers at any time.
guest2381 asks, Haven and Clancy, I’m a surrogate Mom to a 12 year old girl…due to 9/11. If there was something you think is important to tell me as far as relating to her or someone about your age what would it be?
WhelchelFamily says, {Haven} Go to the mall with her and buy her clothes.
WhelchelFamily says, {Clancy} Just love her.
my3sons_243 asks, Do you have any pets that you had to leave at home?
WhelchelFamily says, {Lisa} Our Dalmatian checkers died before we left.
guest2312 asks, Do you kids want to be like your mom?
WhelchelFamily says, {Haven} Not with the hair.

WhelchelFamily says, {Tucker} Awww… Yea.. Sure.
WhelchelFamily laughs hysterically.
WhelchelFamily giggles inanely.
WhelchelFamily says, {Tucker} I am not giggling
WhelchelFamily says, {Clancy} I want to be like mom.
WhelchelFamily says, {Tucker} Yes, but I don’t want to wear high heels.
mma119 asks, Tucker Haven and Clancy, What type of music do you enjoy?
WhelchelFamily says, {Haven} I like Plus One, Point of Grace and Zoegirl.
WhelchelFamily says, {Clancy} I like D.C. Talk, especially Michael Tate and his band, Point of Grace and Lauren Talley.
guest2345 asks, To all the kids – how often do you get to chat with your friends back home? Where do you get your mail, or do you simply e-mail?
WhelchelFamily says, {All} We don’t get to do email on the road. We talk on the cell phone about once every 2 weeks.
guest2389 asks, How did the dog die??
WhelchelFamily says, {Lisa} He died of lung cancer.
WhelchelFamily says, {Tucker} The dog next store was sneaking him packs of cigarettes.
guest2412 asks, What kind of TV shows do the kids like?

WhelchelFamily says, {Lisa} No.
Yadah_Host says, Mr. Chatmaster??

chatmaster shouts, Lisa Whelchel and her family have been traveling across America in an RV. Read some of their experiences in Lisa’s journal. Just goto http://www.Lisawhelchel.com/coffee.html

chatmaster shouts, Order your own copy of Lisa Whelchel’s book, “Facts of Life and Other Facts My Father Taught Me.”

guest2328 asks, Tucker, has your Uncle Casey helped you with your guitar lessons?
WhelchelFamily says, {Tucker} Yes, he taught me how to play Louie Lu I.
WhelchelFamily says, {Lisa} All the kids screamed when they heard his name cause they miss him so much.
WhelchelFamily says, {Haven} If I were his age I’d marry him.
WhelchelFamily smiles.
guest2542 asks, Do people treat you any differently because you have a famous mom?
WhelchelFamily says, {All} Yes, in a good way.
WhelchelFamily says, {Tucker} I once got some really cool collectable baseball cards.
WhelchelFamily says, {Haven} I got to eat at Applebees for free.
WhelchelFamily says, {Clancy} I got to ride horses at mom’s publisher’s house in Oregon.
guest2288 asks, how come you don’t let the kids read Harry potter?
WhelchelFamily says, {Lisa} The number reason is I don’t think there is any such thing as good or white magic. I’m afraid that those books encourage the curiosity for kids to dabble in magic. The source of magik is the devil. We know that nothing good can come from him although he does often pose as an angel of light. I’m not willing to sacrifice the end result just for the means of the fact that they are reading 800 page books. Besides we are only at the beginning of the series and the author has said the end is going to introduce more graphic violence and sensuality. I’d rather not get something started and not know where it is going to end.
guest2517 asks, Our family just had a wonderful discussion during dinner after listening to the song “Questions for Heaven”…so what is the first question you each want to ask when you get to heaven?
WhelchelFamily says, {Clancy} I’d ask God if he could bring my dog Checkers up to heaven with us.
WhelchelFamily says, {Tucker} Could I go and see what some of the fortresses looked like in the Old Testament.
WhelchelFamily says, {Haven} I would ask if I was faithful in his sight.
Yadah_Host says, Thanks Lisa, Tucker, Haven and Clancy for being with us tonight! Is there anything else any of you would like to add?
WhelchelFamily says, {Clancy} If uncle Casey or Grandma or Grandpa are in there. I miss you and love you.
WhelchelFamily says, {Tucker} I’d like to just say Hi to any of my friends out there and say thanks for chatting. This is the first Chat room I’ve ever been in and it’s been a lot of fun.
WhelchelFamily says, {Haven} Bye, I’m going to bed now.
WhelchelFamily waves at everyone.
WhelchelFamily says, {Lisa} Thank you for joining us on this trip. It’s more fun the more people I get to share it with. Thank you for being kind to the kids and keeping us all in your prayers. We have felt them and needed them many times. And thanks to Fritz and Zema!
Yadah_Host says, I’d like to thank you all for coming tonight. We have another Chat event this week on Thursday at 9 p.m. ET with expert Tim Bayly.
