In his book The Peacemaker, author Ken Sande tells of the time Abraham Lincoln addressed a class of law students. “Discourage litigation,” Lincoln told them. “Persuade your neighbors to compromise whenever you can. Point out to them how the nominal winner is often a loser in fees, expenses, and waste of time.”
