Just south of Naples and overlooking its famous bay is the small city of Pozzuoli. It has a claim to fame. It is the most earthquake prone place on planet Earth. Every year the people experience 4,000 earth tremors! In no other place is terra firma so unstable. Of course, no place is exempt from earthquakes — and no person is exempt from the troubling tremors of life. Life shakes all of us from time to time. The most peaceful, placid life has its times of instability. That’s when it means so much to sing, “On Christ the solid rock I stand. All other ground is sinking sand.”
-Robert Shannon, Preaching March/April 1999
