Hans Christian Andersen, whose stories have thrilled millions of children,
suffered from dyslexia. Winston Churchill, noted for his oratory, had a problem
with stuttering. He wrote his speeches carefully, leaving out words that ended
in s and he rehearsed them several times. Thomas Edison, the great inventor, was
thought to be stupid by his teacher and left school at age eight. Woodrow
Wilson could not read well until he was eleven. Six Olympic athletes from
America had to overcome asthma.

While it is good to celebrate the way the human spirit overcomes difficulties,
it is best to consider that spiritually, Jesus Christ brings out the best in all
who believe in Him. We can say with the apostle Paul, “I can do all things
through Christ Who strengthens me.”
