The final volume of Hughes Oliphant Old’s masterful history of preaching and worship is now available with the publication of Volume 7, Our Own Time, in the series The Reading and Preaching of the Scriptures in the Worship of the Christian Church (Eerdmans). The focus of this book is the post-war era, particularly since the 1960s. Olds deals with key preachers of the era, and also provides sections on preaching in Africa and Asia as well as the English-speaking world. Students of preaching will want to add this to their bookshelf.
