This is the fourth in Westminster John Knox’s excellent series of homiletical commentaries focused on the preaching of the gospels. Written by New Testament professor Stanley P. Saunders at Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta, Preaching the Gospel of Matthew offers exegetical insights to each major section of the book, followed by ideas and counsel for preaching of that text.

As Tom Long observes, the book “blends scholarly attention to the biblical texts and their contexts and a creative attention to the many preaching possibilities present in those texts.”
