Louisiana State University was criticized recently for disseminating photos of some men known as “The Painted Posse.” The problem was not the photo itself, but what officials at LSU airbrushed out of the image. “The Painted Posse” is not composed of just LSU fans; they are also Christians who proudly display on their chests, along with LSU colors, images of the cross. The university defended its policy against religious images in its publications and its legal right to alter the pictures. All that aside, there is something school officials can never do, and that is eliminate the cross from our consciousness.
