Two math majors apparently didn’t compute the results of their actions.

The two students at Reed College took a giant student-built snowball and tried to make it larger by rolling it down a sidewalk. Unfortunately, they lost control of the huge snowball and it rolled into a residence hall, knocking in part of a wall and doing more than $2,000 in damage.

According to college spokesman Kevin Myers, “The ball just got away from them.”

A Feb. 14, 2014, AP story said, “After escaping their control, the boulder-sized snowball rolled about 15 yards before slamming into Unit #7…Nobody weighed the snowball, but a maintenance worker who sliced it up for removal estimated it to weigh 800 pounds or more.”
