Perhaps you saw it on TV. It happened in Perth, Australia. A man got his foot trapped in the gap between a subway platform and the subway car. Commuters and officials worked together by lining up and pushing the train to get it to tilt, thereby enabling the man to free himself. This is a lesson on several fronts. It is a lesson in compassion: total strangers helping out a fellow traveler. It is also a lesson on the power of cooperation and unity. Just think if the church had the same commitment to compassion, cooperation and unity—oh what wonderful things we might do!
