On July 15, 1099, the Crusaders drove the Turks from Jerusalem and elected one of their own leaders, Godfrey of Bouillon, as their king. He accepted only the title “Defender of the Holy Sepulcher” and refused to wear a crown of gold on the spot where the Savior wore a crown of thorns.

A third generation preacher, Mike Shannon is Professor of Preaching at Cincinnati Bible Seminary of Cincinnati Christian University.
