We all know drinking and driving don’t mix, but apparently drinking also can be quite dangerous at the zoo.

That’s what a 33-year-old Omaha woman recently learned when she got drunk, broke into the zoo, and tried to pet the tiger.

According to a Nov. 2, 2015, NBC News story, she reached into the cage of an 18-year-old Malayan tiger named Mai, and suffered a severe trauma to her left hand. A friend drove her to the hospital—I suspect a really a good friend would have suggested not trying to pet a tiger—and she was cited by police for criminal trespassing.

Summing up what we all can learn from this episode, an Omaha police spokesman said: “Just in case you had any doubt…if you pet a tiger, you most likely will get bitten.”
