I’ve got another great addition to add to your Biblical tools and resources from Crossway. Just recently, Crossway has released the ESV Preaching Bible, and it is one you want to check out.
When it comes to preaching week in and week out, what are the qualities and features that you would like to have when it comes to the Bible you bring with you to the pulpit? Readable font? Perhaps a slightly larger font to aid in reading the text? How about verse numbers that are slightly bolder with a little space around the number to help in locating verses? Maybe you’d like to have a little extra space in the margins to take notes that you can reference in your sermon. How about high quality paper that makes the text pop? And then of course how about section headings, textual footnotes, and cross-reference footnotes? If that’s the case, then you have found the right Bible!
The ESV Preaching Bible contains all of those features, with the expressed purpose of aiding in the study and preaching of God’s Word. Here are the features included in the Bible taken from Crossway:
- Created from the ground up with input from pastors and church leaders
- Enlarged and bolded verse numbers surrounded by extra space to easily locate verses on the page
- Extra-wide margins
- High-quality paper
- Presentation page
- Full-color maps
- Two ribbon markers
- Lifetime guarantee
- Smyth-sewn binding
- Premium goatskin cover
- Packaging: Box
I must say that at first glance I really enjoy this Bible. The paper is just thick enough to allow the text to really stand out and prevents the transparent view of the pages behind. Now the trade-off is that the Bible is a touch thicker than what I am used to, but the readability of the pages, in my opinion, is worth the extra size.
All in all this is a great Bible that was designed with the preacher in mind. It is one that I think will be a popular choice for new preachers when it comes down to choosing what Bible they want to use for preaching. I also think it’s a great choice for seasoned preachers who may need to look for a new Bible to utilize in the pulpit (especially seeing that this Bible has a larger 10-point type, and thicker paper which will make for a great experience when preaching the Word of God).
Be sure to head over to Crossway and check out their new ESV Preaching Bible.
