Yet another reason people might opt for Netflix: A 27-year-old woman recently spent a night in jail due to an arrest warrant for failing to return a movie to the video store. The movie Monster-in-Law was rented in 2005 from the now defunct Dalton Videos in Pickens, South Carolina.
The woman had stopped by the sheriff’s office for another reason when the warrant was discovered. According to a Feb. 21, 2014, AP story, the woman “spent the night in jail before she was released.” The good news is “The owner of a now-closed video store in South Carolina has decided to drop charges” due to the media attention the arrest generated.
