Hugh Hewitt is a nationally-syndicated talk show host and former staffer in the Reagan White House. In his book In But Not Of: A Guide to Christian Ambition and the Desire to Influence the World (Thomas Nelson), Hewitt offers an assortment of brief chapters with insights for leaders, especially young ones. Among his observations:
“Jesus was not easily offended. In fact, I think He was offended only by the desecration of His Father’s house. Keep that in mind.
“Christians know that taking offense displays a sense of moral superiority, an objectively impossible status, given the gospel. Your mission in life may be to reduce or end objectionable behaviors and conduct that give offense to others, but sensitivity is not a luxury the world allows its leaders…
“Very successful people have little time for those with long lists of grievances, real or imagined, but especially those that are imagined. So if your feelings are hurt but you are not bleeding, get over it and get on with it.” (Click here to learn more about In But Not Of.)
