In Overton, Texas, the police clearly have too much time on their hands.
As kids have done for many years, two sisters—8-year-old Andria and 7-year-old Zoey—set up a stand selling lemonade for 50 cents and kettle korn for $1. An Overton police officer stopped at the stand and asked the girls’ mother if she had a permit, which they didn’t.
According to a June 11, 2015, AP story, “A family friend went to City Hall to get one. Authorities waived the $150 fee, but said health department officials needed to inspect the stand.” So now Andria and Zoey are going to give away their lemonade and simply invite donations.
Here’s hoping the Overton police chief gets a big glass and makes a healthy donation.
