A variety of books have been published in recent months in connection with the
300th anniversary of Jonathan Edwards’ birth. A God-Entranced Vision Of All Things: The Legacy Of Jonathan
Edwards (Crossway), edited by John Piper and Justin Taylor, is a
wonderful collection of essays by an outstanding team of evangelical authors.
Pastors will particularly want to read Mark Dever’s chapter on “How Jonathan
Edwards Got Fired and Why It’s Important for Us Today.” If you wonder why
Edwards still matters for the contemporary church, start with this volume, then
move on to Marsden’s excellent biography.
