From 1981 to 2005, the percentage of the world’s population living in extreme poverty (living on less than $1 a day) dropped from 52 percent to 26 percent. Now, says Scott Todd in his book Fast Living (Compassion International), it is possible for the church to help eradicate extreme poverty in this generation. He encourages believers to “break free from the tyranny of low expectations” and take their “rightful position in the battle against poverty.”
