In Becoming a Pastor Theologian (IVP Academic), edited by Todd Wilson and Gerald Hiestand, a series of insightful contributors offer observations on how pastoral ministry and theological scholarship can once again be united within the church. Based on presentations during a 2015 conference with The Center for Pastor Theologians, the book includes chapters by Kevin Vanhoozer, Peter Leithart, Philip Ryken and others. Timothy George calls this volume “a collection of stout essays calling for a new generation of shepherd-teachers – ecclesial theologians who do their work in the best tradition of the church fathers and the Reformers.”
