Sidney Greidanus has written several powerful and helpful volumes on preaching Christ from various books of the Bible. His latest book is Preaching Christ from Psalms (Eerdmans). In this substantial work (595 pages), he deals with a variety of issues relating to preaching from the Psalms. Then, using the Christian year and Revised Common Lectionary as a guide, Greidanus offers a treatment of 22 individual psalms, offering textual and literary insights, analyzing imagery used, discussing a Christocentric preaching approach, and providing a sample sermon exposition of the psalm. This book offers a treasure chest of valuable content for any preacher or teacher, and it will find a valued place on the shelf of many a preacher.
