It is easy for readers unfamiliar with Scripture to become confused about the overall narrative of God’s Word, given that the books are not in chronological order. The Chronological Study Bible (Thomas Nelson) seeks to remedy that situation by reordering sections of the NIV text so they fall in a more linear narrative order. You’ll start noticing the difference when you get to 1 Samuel, when you’ll start seeing some of the Psalms, then sections of 1 Chronicles appear. Several of the Proverbs follow Isaiah, and that is followed by the Book of Job, then Ezra. It may sound confusing, but it follows a more chronological structure, which may be a help to those seeking to learn the historical flow of the Bible.
