Zack Eswine’s new book The Imperfect Pastor: Discovering Joy in Our Limitations Through a Daily Apprenticeship with Jesus (Crossway) is an extended meditation on the life of the pastor. Drawing on his 20 years of pastoral experience, he deals with issues surrounding our calling, the temptations pastors face, reshaping the inner life, and reshaping pastoral work. The book is a revision and updating of his earlier book Sensing Jesus: Life and Ministry as a Human Being, with about a third of this book being new material. Eswine is a fine writer and thinker, and pastors will find this book to be useful and encouraging.
