Thomas Schreiner is one of the most able New Testament scholars among evangelicals today, and his book The King in His Beauty: A Biblical Theology of the Old and New Testaments (Baker Academic) is an outstanding volume of biblical theology. In his examination of the story told in Scripture, he identifies three key themes: God as Lord, human beings as made in the image of God, and the place where God’s rule is exercised. The book is centered on the notion of the kingdom of God as a theme which captures the message of Scripture.
