Stanley Hauerwas teaches theology and ethics at Duke Divinity School and, though a layman, has opportunities to preach from time to time. His new book Without Apology: Sermons for Christ’s Church (Seabury) contains a collection of those messages, and I’ve already started quoting some of his penetrating phrases. Whether you agree with Hauerwas on every theological point, his sermons are well worth reading.
