Receiving and Giving the Gift

Hard to believe another year has passed, and Christmas is almost here again. But today on Precepts for Life, Precept Ministry's Kay Arthur begins a special Christmas series to help you get in the true spirit of the season. It's titled, "Christmas: Receiving and Giving Love."

The Indescribable Gift

May you remember the Gift upon a tree about two thousand years ago. God gave His Son's life to provide forgiveness and eternal life for all who will repent of sin (Acts 17:30-31) and believe the gospel (1 Cor. 15:3, 4). This is the greatest benefit ever bestowed by a benefactor upon a beneficiary!

Casting Out Fear

How often are you startled from sleep by a scared child? Children are prone to nightmares, so adults in their lives have to deal with calming their fears. How do we free them from the fears that overtake them? Well, we comfort them with our love, knowing our love can erase their terror. Similarly, God wants us to live fearlessly. Dr. Jeremiah shows us that only the love of God can cast out all fear from our lives.

There's a wide cast of characters in your youth group-the sports aficionado, the class clown, the techy geek, the music lover and a myriad of others. They, as do we all, have a profound need to do something with the person God is calling them to be. They just need experience in order to find out what it is they are being called to do.

White Robes and Palm Branches

I have on my desk a picture of my granddaughter in the baptistery with her pastor. She is in a white robe, and so is he. The robes are a long-standing part of our tradition. They do not make anyone pure, but they might remind us of the purity that comes only as a grace gift. What is the symbolism of the white robes and palm branches in our text?
