According
to Rolling Stone magazine, the last written words of “gonzo” journalist
Hunter Thompson were in a note written to his wife, four days before his suicide.
The note said:

“No
More Games. No More Bombs. No More Walking. No More Fun. No More Swimming. 67.
That is 17 years past 50. 17 more than I needed or wanted. Boring . . . No Fun-
for anybody. 67. You are getting Greedy. Act your old age. Relax – This won’t
hurt.” Written in black marker, the note was titled, “Football Season
Is Over.”

Isn’t
it a shame that Thompson could not have found some things to enjoy and celebrate
as he approached older age.
