Do we realize how entertainment crazy Americans really are? The top ten Yahoo searches of 2003 were all popular and entertainment related.

It seems that our computers feed our desire for news after, and only after, our hunger for the popular, risqué, and especially titillating need for celebrities. It is no wonder that Jesus described us as entertained children who took it personally if you would not play their game. He says, “They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling out to each other: ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not cry.'” (Luke 7:32; NIV)

A Christian is one who stands counter-culturally with Jesus – speaking to the culture from a Kingdom perspective. Jesus reserves the right to always call from the outside. We would do well to evaluate from the outside with him.
