In
the book Significa, the authors tell of two men who decided to see the
world backwards. It was 1930 when James B. Hargis and Charles Creighton drove
their Ford roadster backwards from New York City to Los Angeles and back. They
locked the car into reverse so no one could accuse them of cheating. It took
them 42 days of virtual non-stop driving and they rarely got above 10 miles
per hour. They even had an accident before they left New York but they kept
right on driving.
It
was an interesting stunt, but too many people today try to live their lives
in reverse. They are obsessed in some cases by past failures and in other cases
by past victories. Life must be lived looking forward.
