Among the many tombs in Westminster Abbey is the tomb of James Wolfe, a distinguished British Army officer. Wolfe died in battle after being shot three times. He neared death just as the battle concluded. When hearing of the impending victory, he said, “Now God be praised, I die contented.” These words are carved on his tomb: “Slain in the moment of victory.” The words could well be said of Jesus on His cross!
