Recent news stories about the faithfulness of Rocky Abalsomo have touched many. Rocky has kept a regular vigil at his wife, Jules’, grave for 20 years. For 12 years, he would make a daily visit, pull out his lawn chair and sit by her grave all day. At the urging of friends and family, he altered his schedule a bit to spend more time with the living. Nevertheless he kept coming by regularly for another eight years. His story inspired people to emulate his devotion and to get relationship advice from him. At the age of 96, his health prevented him from visiting until he died at the age of 97. He was buried next to his beloved wife. When asked why he kept the vigil, he said, “She is a part of me, so here I am whole.”
