According to Lauran Neegard of the Associated Press, happiness is good for your heart—literally. Neegard reports of a Harvard Review study that has concluded happiness helps ward off heart disease. We often have speculated unhappiness could have detrimental health effects. This review suggests strongly the most optimistic people had half the risk of heart attack as the least optimistic. While we may not be able to control our moods completely, these studies have indicated that asking people to smile actually puts them in a happier state of mind. Being happier is good for your heart physically and spiritually.
