Hollywood was caught by surprise by the rating’s success of the History Channel’s series, “The Bible.” It was conceived by Mark Burnett, producer of many television shows, including “Survivor,” and his actress wife, Roma Downey of “Touched by an Angel” fame. Because of the great response, they reedited the Jesus portions of the mini-series into a feature film, The Son of God. It also was a great box office success, but this wasn’t about monetary profit for Mark and Roma. It was an act of love, reflecting their own faith. Burnett said in an interview, “Roma and I have become the very noisy Hollywood Christians, and we’re very happy being in that position because it’s our faith,” Downey added, “This has been more than a job for us. This has been a passion project for my husband and me to be able to combine what we love to do with what we believe, and to do it together.” Maybe we need more noisy Christians.
