When I say the name Wrigley, I am pretty sure I know what you are thinking. It is the name of the man who popularized chewing gum, but that is not how he got started. According to Mental Floss magazine, he started in his father’s soap business. As a premium to those who bought his product, he would give his customers baking powder. Then the baking powder got more popular than the soap, so he had to sell baking powder and come up with a new prize. He started giving away chewing gum. That became so popular it became his business—that and the Chicago Cubs.
