There are a lot of opinions of Richard Nixon, but few ever have thought of him as romantic. Will Swift has written a book titled Pat and Dick: An Intimate Portrait of a Marriage. In that book, he details a little-known side of the controversial president. When Nixon first met his future wife, Pat, he chauffeured her to her dates with other men. He tried to get Pat’s interest, but she said he could only drive her if he made no marriage proposal or profession of his love. He took her home for weekends and back to school so many times that she eventually fell in love with the awkward future president.
