Edinburgh, Scotland has a new museum with objects depicting the land’s long and varied history. There are ancient rock carvings and almost modern furniture as it might have been seen in a Glasgow tea room at the turn of the century. No object is more interesting than an ornamental drinking cup.

Robert the Bruce and his supporters shared that cup and drank from it together to celebrate victory after a battle with the English. It reminds us of Abraham and Melchizidek sharing a cup together after the victory over the confederation of kings (Genesis 14:18). It reminds us of Jesus and His disciple sharing a cup together before the great victory at Calvary. It reminds us that Jesus shares the cup with us at Communion when we celebrate that victory! (Matthew 26:29)
