In Cincinnati’s Underground Railroad Freedom Center Museum, the centerpiece of the facility is a reconstructed slave pen, in which slaves were held before being auctioned to buyers. It is disturbing to think of the multitudes of human beings sold to the highest bidder. One would like to have stood there more than 100 years ago, purchased every one of them and said, “Now you are free.”

That is what Christ has done for us all. He went to the slave market of sin, purchased our freedom with His own blood and enabled us to go free. The Bible reminds us that we were not redeemed with corruptible things, but with the precious blood of Christ.
