An older couple
had a son, who was still living at home with his parents. The parents were a
little worried that their son could not decide on his future career, so they
decided to do a little test. They took a $20 bill, a Bible, and a bottle of
whiskey, and put all three on the kitchen table, then they hid in the pantry.

The father’s said:
“If our son takes the money, he will be a businessman, if he takes the
Bible, he will be a preacher, but if he takes the bottle of whiskey, I’m afraid
our son will be a drunkard.”

So they waited
nervously until their son arrived. The son saw the $10 bill, held it up to the
light, and put it in his pocket. Next he picked up the Bible, flipped through
a few pages, and placed it under his arm. Finally he took the bottle, opened
it, took a deep whiff to be assured of the quality – then he left for his
room, carrying all three items.

The father slapped
his forehead, and said: “Oh no, it’s even worse than I had imagined. I’m
afraid our son’s going to be a politician!”
