Every morning I become excited when the mailman comes, wondering what he will bring.
Sometimes I'm disappointed — I receive only 'junk' mail; on other occasions there are bills. My favorite piece of mail is a personal letter from a friend or relative. I appreciate love letters the most because they are filled with affection, friendship and joy.
Paul reminds us that, "You are a letter from Christ, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone" (2 Corinthians 3:2-3).
If we are a letter from Christ, what kind of letter are we? Are we just a useless piece of 'junk' mail? or are we a love letter, expressing Christ's grace and joy? Let us offer ourselves as a personal letter from Christ, that people may find in us His love and affection! (Frank J. Van Veer is Minister of St. Andrew's United Church, Chatham, Ontario, Canada.)
