Good Friday: In the Silence

This sermon explores the idea of silence. Good Friday, says Willimon, is a time for confession, repentance, honesty and candid self-examination. Jesus is going this night to do His work. Now, in the silence, in the aloneness, we have our work to do as well.

Let Our Light Shine

Our lives are pictured as candles in this children's sermon. If we don't show others that we love Jesus, we aren't doing what Jesus wants us to do. But if we love Jesus, pray, come to church, obey our parents and keep God's laws, our lives can burns as bright as this candle.

Before the first Easter, Jesus' disciples had known death only as the end of the line. Jesus shows them a new way of looking at death. No longer a stone wall, a barrier, a termination. No, says Jesus, it's only the passage through customs and immigration, before the next train pulls out of the station.
